Earth Hour 2011 Follow up

The candle below was the only “light” we had on in our whole house during Earth Hour earlier today.

And you know what? It was great.

Not only because it felt nice to do our small share for our planet… but because all four of us sat around in the family room (in the dark) and talked about old memories and such.

I mean, come on, how often do you do that?

It was like for an hour, everything else was put on a stand-still, and… it was just nice.

You know what else I did? I marinated chicken to BBQ tomorrow. Yes, in March. I’ve been craving it for a while, so figured why not? 🙂

So did you take part in Earth Hour? What did you do? I’d love to hear about (and even see pictures) if you posted some.

P.S. Don’t forget to leave me a comment below on your thoughts! As always, I’d love to hear from you.

 1. I too participated in Earth Hour after much protest from my boyfriend and roommate who were watching Star Wars at the time 🙂 It was refreshing to have a quiet house with just a few candles lit and to catch up with each other. All of the distractions from tv, computers, video games, etc. make it difficult to really connect some times and earth hour was the perfect opportunity to reconnect.
<

 2. I enjoyed this post. It brought back memories from when I was deployed. It had just struck midnight and was officially christmas. We lit a candle and set it on top of the radios in our tank and we all just stared at it without saying a word. It was a sad and reflective moment, but a cherished memory.

gu-life.blogspot.com

 3. Sara, my brother wasn't too please either because of the NCAA tournament or something, but finally relented.

I completely agree — we get so caught up in the everyday stuff, that it was nice to just sit and talk.

Lance – Thanks for sharing that! I can't imagine the feeling.
